Product Overview
This product is a modular AI device for the visually impaired, offering advanced object and path detection with vibration alerts instead of sound. Traditional models equipped with ultrasonic, infrared, or LiDAR are expensive, heavy, and offer limited functionality. However, our product, utilizing visual AI, incorporates a variety of advanced features.
Product Design
Unlike most existing assistive devices for the visually impaired, which are designed as canes, our product distinguishes itself with its modularity. It can accommodate a cane but also allows for the attachment of rods or various cases, reflecting the preferences of visually impaired users. This product has been developed with active input from the visually impaired community.
AI Specialized Features
We offer distinctive advantages in our AI functionality. Our AI model combines an object detection module for identifying obstacles and an image segmentation module for detecting walking paths and ground-level obstacles. This enables the recognition and differentiation of all obstacles and paths within the view of a monocular camera. When detected obstacles approach or deviate from the path, we have implemented an algorithm that effectively alerts the user.
Expected Impact
The visually impaired have actively contributed their ideas and participated in the development of both the design and technology of this product. It is expected to significantly improve the lives of the visually impaired.
Alert System : Vibration-based warnings for visually impaired
Most visually impaired people prefer not to receive information through sound. Therefore, the method of providing warnings using vibration motors installed in our product is both friendly to the visually impaired and efficient in operation.
